LLE Leadership Capacity Building

Everyday Advocacy and Leadership skills for LLE

with Dr Louise Byrne

Capacity Building for Lived-Living Experience roles to enhance advocacy and impact while maintaining authentic LLE practice and values.

What to Expect From
Everyday Advocacy and Leadership skills for LLE

What’s the Focus?

Equipping Lived-Living Experience workers and emerging leaders with skills, knowledge, and strategic insight to work more confidently and effectively at senior leadership levels by understanding how to:

• Think and act strategically

• Use the evidence base and understand why that matters

• Build robust alliances while holding firm to Lived-Living Experience values and principles

• Be an effective persuader for maximum impact while still looking after ourselves.

A core theme of the course is being intentional in choosing and applying approaches to leadership and

advocacy, with a guided process of determining what works best for the individual, and what is likely to work

best in different situations or contexts.

What’s the value add?

While we’ve seen significant development of designated senior leadership roles in recent years, there is a

corresponding gap in capacity building to equip our workforces to have the skills and confidence to advocate

effectively, hold influence and create impact, particularly within multi-disciplinary environments.

This is problematic due to the culture clash between traditional ‘corporate’ work culture and Lived-Living Experience ways of viewing and doing.

This training assists by capacity-building emerging and existing leaders to be more intentional and systematic in their approach to gaining influence, enhance confidence and efficacy advocating in diverse settings, while maintaining fidelity to our disciplines.
